The fact is that the majority of our thoughts and actions are on autopilot. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions carry us through our lives so we don’t have to stop and think about it every time we wipe our ass or start a car.
The problem is when we’re on autopilot for so long that we forget we’re on autopilot. Because when we’re not even aware of our own habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we no longer control them they control us.
The goal in Deathloop is to take out eight Visionaries, intelligent party-lovers who’ve locked an island into one repeating day so they can piss about for eternity. It’s implied that Colt used to be the head of security for these Visionaries, but something bad clearly happened for him to be trying to murder them all.
The Visionaries use the island as a kind of prison, and Colt is trying to break out. But when he finds the source of the island’s power, it’s not the island itself that’s the problem, it’s Colt himself. He wakes up dead – with no memory of what happened to him. What’s more, he finds that the island’s source of power is actually a machine that he created himself.
This is a great example of why you should never give away your secrets in a video game. The game doesn’t reveal all the secrets, and we, as players, will continue to find more and more when we play. Its the kind of “hidden” item that you will have to discover for yourself.
And the game also hints that Colt’s powers are actually pretty much an endless loop. After all, he created a machine that makes him a robot with a certain limited power and ability. This loop will ultimately kill him if he keeps it up. As for the mystery of the island, it is implied that it’s actually a secret base that has been built on this island by the Visionaries.
The goal is to keep Colt’s party island in order.
The island itself is a hidden base where Visionaries are kept. That is, they have to be kept in the dark or else the island will self destruct. At the start of the game, the main villain, Blackreef, comes along and forces the Visionaries to join his island. He is also the owner of the island and has been there forever. We can see that he likes to keep the villagers in fear.
This is probably the game’s greatest strength. This is the first time we see a game that allows us to look at an area of the world and have a good idea of what it’s like. We can see the island, we can see the villagers, we can see the Visionaries, we can see the island itself. It’s very important to us that we can see what’s going on and understand how it’s different from what we’ve ever done before.
